Fortress of Solitude Cache

Second cache on our lunchtime treasure hunting adventure, called Fortress of Solitude.

*insert spooky music here*

The GPS is right on pointing to this one’s location, so we bound out of the truck down to the spot. Jenny starts searching aroud the base of the structure and I sit down. It’s a nice little quasi-bench. I’m thinking, it’s right under here, as I tap the top cover of the storm drain. Me to Jenny: I think it’s under here and I squat down to reach through the storm drain and under to the backside of the drain cover. *plunk* Drat! I bumped it and it dropped into the storm drain! Well, guess a level 2 wasn’t hard enough, I’ll just make this a level 3 cache! Brill. *ahem*

After much discussion on where is it, can you see it, did it get washed down in the running stream of water, etc I decide to own up and go in belly first to see if I can retrieve it from where it’s fallen. Yay. Um. Yeah.

Well, heck while I’m in here, might as well get a picture before I fall to certain doom:

So, I scoot in and bend down and reach around in those nasty smelly leaves and running water when hey hey hey, got it! (This photo courtesy of Jen who stayed both pretty and dry)

Does this storm drain make my butt look big? ha! ;)

Ok, so found the Fortress of Solitude cache and inside is the final clue for the Shape Shifters series:

After a very satisfying find, Jen and I decide to go get a Margarita. Heck, I earned mine! And as we are being walked to our table at the local Mexican restaurant, the server turns to me and says “How’d you get wet?” since it wasn’t raining and the spots on my shirt were rather oddly shapped….yeah…bout that…..all in the name of adventure my friends!
