In looking for a way to get involved in the community here in Des Moines, I found this site: volunteermatch.org

Volunteer Match offers both in person and virtual volunteering opportunities. Just put in your location and a few keywords of the type of volunteering you’d like to do and the search takes care of the rest. If you want to search for virtual opportunities, just check the box under the location.

In the search results, you’ll be able to see the name of the organization, date the opportunity was posted and when it’s available, and the interest area. A short synopsis is also listed.

Here’s where it gets cool, when you click on one that you are interested in, it pulls up a more detailed page that also has a volunteer ranking and reviews!

Click on the I Want To Help button and off ya go – if you don’t have an account, the walk thru signup process was very friendly.

I found three opportunities that both interested me and could fit into my work schedule. So get out there – volunteer!
